Ruby is mostly famous for her acts at school. Her first day at all-white school was November 14th, 1960. She started late because people kept throwing her out. That changed when the U.S court judge, J. Skelly Write, sent U.S Marshalls to protect Ruby and the other girls. The Marshalls drove her to school and walked her through, but they couldn’t go to class with her.
Of course ruby had a teacher. Her name was Mrs. Henry. She was the first white teacher Ruby had. On the first day Mrs. Henry gave Ruby a hug and gave her one every day after. Ruby wasn’t allowed to go outside, so Mrs. Henry played games with her and made school fun. That whole year it was just Mrs. Henry and Ruby. Over the summer the school board transferred Mrs. Henry to Chicago, and Ruby never saw her again.
